Ghanaian popular cartoonist, Kpakpo Nii Gbemi has been arrested for using alleged affiliation with Ibrahim Mahama to defraud a man of over ¢448k for visa to the USA.
Samuel Ocantey, known on social media as Nii Kpakpo Gbemi, has been arrested. He is the creator of the popular Kpakpo Series, a Peter Griffin-inspired cartoon skit featuring a Ga voice-over.
According to reports, Nii Kpakpo, who has established connections with several prominent Ghanaians—including the Mahama family, Dede Ayew, and Jackie Appiah, among others—allegedly convinced an unsuspecting victim that he could help them secure a visa to the United States.

Information gathered has it that he was reportedly paid approximately GH₵448K for three visas but failed to deliver and has also been unable to refund the money. Following a police report, Nii Kpakpo allegedly attempted to evade accountability, claiming he was busy.
Investigations further reveal that the Mahama family distanced themselves from Kpakpo after previous reports of him using Dzata Cement to defraud someone. However, he has continued to post old videos with the Mahamas to convince people of his ties to the family.
On Friday night during the weekend, Kpakpo was arrested and detained at Nima Police Station before being transferred to BNI custody as investigations into his alleged fraudulent activities continue.
The office of Ibrahim Mahama has yet to release a public statement disassociating the businessman from Nii Kpakpo’s activities.
